Wolf struggles again, Gerut continues to look strong

For the 2nd straight outing, left-hander Randy Wolf failed to get out of the first inning, giving up 4 runs on 3 hits and walking 2 in 2/3 of an inning of work in a 15-4 loss to the Oakland A's.

You have to wonder if Wolf is working on spotting different pitches or if the Padres have a legitimate reason to be concerned about their off-season acquisition.

Offensively, young outfielder Jody Gerut continues his hot spring, going 2-for-3 and a run scored, raising his batting average to .455. Edgar Gonzalez, older brother to Padres' 1st baseman Adrian Gonzalez, hit his first HR of the spring in the 7th inning.

The Padres will be home again tomorrow at the Peoria Sports Complex to face the defending National League Champion Colorado Rockies. Jake Peavy is scheduled to pitch 3 innings and should be followed by right-hander Glendon Rusch who is scheduled for 2 innings.
